Barefoot bowling

A Crackerjack afternoon of bowling

Friday the 13th. A day to avoid troubles. So what better way to make sure there are no troubles at work than to take the afternoon off?

That’s just what the whole team did on Friday afternoon. Everyone started really early and everyone knocked off at 2pm – to go barefoot bowling, across the road at the Marrickville Bowling Club.

A range of nibbles was provided by the Club, the bar was opened for all, and the competition started after a quick lesson in the correct protocols of lawn bowls.

Three hours later, after a nail-biting play-off, we had a champion – and Bree was awarded a trophy for being our “Bowling Legend”. Constance, Mark and Sean came in close runners-up. And Iain received an award for coming last!

It was a truly enjoyable afternoon – not a single one of the staff missed out (indeed, we had several extra bodies, partners and colleagues), and many stayed well after dark, playing snooker, talking, drinking and reminiscing over “the bowl that almost hit the jack”.

Our thanks go to Konica-Minolta for picking up the bar-tab and for donating the prizes; and to Ricky, for organising the event. It’s worth noting that Ricky put on a brave show, having just come from the dentist, where he had had two teeth removed. For most of the afternoon he looked considerably worse-for-wear, with blood dripping from his mouth every time he smiled.
